Probably my signature piece. A 3D sculpture, something I do not often do. Sourcing the wood for this rather large piece was in itself an enormous task. I wanted as many different colours of wood as possible, also various textures and types of wood. Finding driftwood shaped like ears or a bit with an eye in just the right place seemed at times a hopeless mission! I added a secret compartment and placed either framed photos or aged letters inside, to stay in keeping with the original trojan horse idea. The mane is made with 4 very big nails from a ship wrecked off the coast of Lanzarote a long time ago, which I was very fortunate to get gifted to me from an artist who had salvaged materials from the wreck. All in all it was worth the hours, walking the beaches and cliffs and little by little watching it emerge.
