On a weathered shutter board, I bent these rather thick strips of metal to form the cactus. It was nigh impossible to bend them in gradual curvy shapes, so it took on a crisp, stark look as opposed to a softer one. But I felt fitting to the cactus and to the barren areas they grow in. The thorns of the cactus are made from old rusted nails I collected in a dusty parking lot. I think I saved many people from some serious punctures to their tyres.
